Roles Vs Place in The Family

Roles Vs Place in The Family.
By Michael Nunn.
www.a1lifestore.com

It is important to understand the difference between roles in the family (environment) and someone’s place in the family.
All too often, people are ostracized from a family due to their inability or unwillingness to fulfil certain roles within it.
Sometimes that inability or unwillingness may be due to private circumstances that the person concerned may be ashamed of or embarassed to talk about. It is possible that the reason for their reluctance or failure to perform such roles (adequately) is unbeknownst to them. i.e they may not be conscious of the underlying reason for their motivation but for whatever reason, feel compelled not to play the part of the father; the model child etc.
What family members need to remember is that despite a person’s apparent failings, despite their reluctance or inability to perform certain roles within the family, they are still a part of that family – they still have a place and a value. How quick we often are to condemn someone who doesn’t step up to the mark; doesn’t meet our expectation of what the mother should be or do, or doesn’t act the way our friend’s uncle acts etc.
In times gone past (often in wartimes) and still even now, young boys (pre-teen/early teens) have often been asked to assume the role of the man of the house. In many cases, the young “man” has made the transition (including the appropriate attitudinal change) within moments, and has later received praise for filling the role admirably or with distinction.
It would be conceivable that some boys of a certain age would be able to fulfil such a role better than others. Does that mean that the boys who were/are unwilling or otherwise unable to play that role were therefore unworthy of inclusion in the family or that they had no value to it?
No, of course not. It is an unreasonable demand on a child to expect them to assume the role of a grown adult when they have not had the years of experience that it normally takes for one to reach adulthood. How unreasonable is it also then to expect anyone to fill a role we naturally assume they can fulfil, without knowing their innermost thoughts; without having experienced what they have. We need to value them for who they are, not just for what we believe they should be doing. We can be far too quick to judge people based on our perception of them, when we ourselves naturally assume we would perform better if placed in their circumstance.
It is important to give people the benefit of the doubt. Understand or at least believe that they are doing the best they can with what they have, and give them the time and space to improve their efforts. It just might be they have a personal issue that you are totally unaware of. It is also quite possible they have not told you about their issue in their attempt to protect you. So go easy on people. If you see someone you know who is not stepping up to the mark, don’t go beating them up about it. Chances are they already feel bad about it. Be supportive and let them know you value them for who they are, not for the roles that you expect them to play.

Everyone wants to be wanted

Everyone Wants to be Wanted.
By Michael Nunn

From a pre-school child to an american president, CEO to convict, aetheist to astronaut – we all have an intrinsic desire to belong; somewhere, or to something.
The most basic and important of these things we can (or want to) belong to is a family. It is our primary support facility, no matter what type of endeavours we undertake in life. Be it in business, our education, or even our personal relationships – we all want the backing of our families.
Actually it goes deeper than that. We need our family. The absolute truth is that without them, none of us would even exist to begin with. No matter if you were one of many children born into a large family with two parents very much in love; or the unplanned child of a solo parent: everybody started somewhere.
The fact is that life can be hard. Not everyone has the same background or opportunities. Some people are born into caring, protective and positive families, where love abounds and help is always close at hand. Others may not be as fortunate, growing up in less positive environments where abuse, violence and disdain may be the norm. In some cases, a person may be brought up in a good loving family but lose them for some reason, whether it be through accident, illness or myriad other situational factors.
As an intelligent and compassionate society, we have a moral obligation (if not a personal commitment) to supplement the support for those less fortunate than ourselves; or at least to make that support accessible to them. The deeper our personal commitment, the more forthcoming we will be with that support. Some people may be more hands-on, and donate their personal time to the support of others – other people may be more protective of their own time but willing to give in a financial sense.
Whichever position we as individuals take, the act of giving (time and/or money) can be rewarding both for benefactor and beneficiary. The old adage, it is better to give than receive comes to mind.
I am also reminded of the golden rule I was taught as a child, that was to do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
As it is in our larger community, so it also is in our own families.
A rational person is always there for their sisters, brothers, parents and children, just as a responsible member of the community is there for the elderly woman crossing a busy street, or the lost child in a large department store.
We, as caring and balanced people, need the support of our family, whatever form that family may take, and we also receive benefit from giving that support, by way of feelings of satisfaction and recognition from those we help that we have infact made their life a bit easier. Feelings of compassion can be strong on both sides, and relational bonds strengthened, each and every time we help one another out.

My Dishnetwork Experiences

Howdy!
This is my very first attempt at this blogging thing, so bear with me.
First, a little about myself. I have been a firefighter/EMT for almost 20 years. My wife of 28+ years is an Elementary school P. E. teacher. We have 3 wonderful children, 2 girls & 1 boy (now grown) and we were recently given the news that we are soon to be Grandparents (April 26 ish 2010). My wife asked me what I want to be called? I told her I was leaning towards Master G or G-Daddy. She told me: “I think PeePaw would be nice!”. I agree, PeePaw would be nice.
OK, enough is enough, Let\’s get to blogging!
I have been a Dishnetwork customer since they pretty much started with the so-called “small dish technology”. As a matter of fact, at the time, (sometime in late \’95 – early \’96) I almost went with one of those mega – dishes that was cluttering up the neighbors yards. These dishes had a lot of moving parts as they literally had to be maneuvered to a particular satellite for the programming/channel you wanted to watch. They were very expensive to purchase and a pain to install. The maintenance after the fact was also regular and expensive.
After I decided on a small dish, I called around to find the best deal around. Remember, this is around \’96 ish so there really was no deal to be had. If I wanted to play, I had to pay. Here\’s what I paid “off the hip”to purchase the system and have 1 dish with 1 receiver installed : $500.
Oh, and it gets better! I also had to pay, in advance, for a years worth of programming : $300.
A total of over $800, and yes, there was tax on top of that. Now, believe me when I say I\’m not sorry I had to pay that much for my first satellite system. I have always been one of those tech-geeks that relished the idea of being one of the first to obtain new stuff.
The great thing about the small dish system is that there are no moving parts. Once the dish is locked onto the signal, you\’re set.
As I watched the installers do their thing, one thought stood out in my mind. This wasn\’t rocket science. If they could do it – so could I. As neighbors, family and friends later decided they also wanted a system ( after seeing mine ), I helped them to install theirs to help save them the installation fee. This experience would later aid me in my next business venture as a small dish satellite installer. I will cover more of that story in another segment.
So, for the past 13 – 14 years, I have enjoyed my Dishnetwork system. There have been numerous receiver upgrades and multiple receivers added as the technology progressed. It has now come to the point where we have downsized to only 2 receivers in the house (I did have up to 6 at one time). There are only 3 of us in the house now (my boy is in his 2nd year of College on his way to becoming a Computer Science major).
I have decided to create this blog to share my experiences with Dishnetwork (good & bad). I will continue adding segments in the future.
For those of you that would like some free information on how to get your own Dishnetwork system, feel free to visit my site at :

Also, if you have any questions concerning your small dish system, please feel free to email or post a comment. I will do my best to help resolve any issues you may have.

Thanks and Be Safe out there!

It was not before I noticed my son struggling to change his assignment that was to be submitted within hours could find his word files in his PC, re-entering data was impossible. On another occassion when I noticed my friends in Sales had to submit a proposal running in hundreds of pages with more than 90% common content had no time to re-enter and make similar proposal for another client – all that they needed was scan and edit. On yet another occassion when I noticed K-12 teachers had to make minor changes in their lesson plan images & printed documents had no way but to re-enter. Similarly my financial consultant not to mention my solicitors.

Google, facebook, yahoo, msn, Youtube, Myspace, Twitter…
visiting heaps of sites putting in hundreds of hours did not help.

This is when I thought of bringing image conversion online with 5 easy steps, hoping www.onlinedocumentconversion.com achieves this objective now.

Rakesh Mathur, CEO of JVIS ( JV Info Solutions Pty Ltd ), says “We are bringing this as a simple Do-It-Yourself  solution for anyone to extract information from images or paper (http://rakeshgmathur.blogspot.com/). We looked at the market and saw that many mid-size companies or individuals have requirements for volume document conversion that cannot easily be met with the current generation of tools which are either cumbersome or expensive.”

Whether you have an online or offline business, you have to advertise it if you want to generate sales. The Internet has become the hot spot for advertising all kinds of businesses and its all for a reason. There are millions of searches being done on the Internet on search engines. Considering the huge numbers, you can see that a free advertising site will do more for your business than the product or service itself!

There is considerable content being posted on the Internet these days. The most popular and in vogue out of this are blogs. Millions of net users flock to these blogs as the content is usually a current hot topic which they are keen to read and comment on. NewBiz advertising blog is a blog which has advertisements of other products and services posted on it. These include banner ads, text ads, text links, and sponsored posts. Some blogs make money out of Internet advertising. But some blogs are free to advertise on!

So why is this free advertising forum so popular? There are many reasons for this. The most important reason why advertising for free on NewBizShop advertising blog is a smart option is because these blogs are updated frequently. As a result the search engines search them more often than the other web pages. So when a search is put for a product that you have advertised on the blogs, the chances of it being noticed by the web spiders are higher.

Another important point is that since there are so many people reading the blogs, the NewBiz advertising of your products and services will be more effective since it will reach a large audience at a time. When you are doing such online marketing, make sure that you place the advertisements on blogs that have some connection with your product or service since this will ensure that the target audience is specifically covered. The traffic on your website will then surely soar.

The most obvious reason why you should do Internet advertising on blogs is because it’s FREE! Instead of spending a major chunk of your budget on the conventional forms of advertising, blogs are better since you are free to advertise on them. Even if the blog writer charges you, the amount will be much lesser than what newspapers or TV advertisements will cost you.

Free advertising on blogs is popular because it provides search engine optimization benefits. You can post links and quality content in the form of articles and this way the chances of your site getting noticed by the search engine are more. It’s the best way to increase your web page rankings.

Blogs have an infinite shelf life. Your advertisements will stay on the blogs permanently and thus even if the advertisement initially cost you some money, it turns out to be the most effective in the long run.

To Your Success

Six Free Ways To Increase Traffic and Sales!

I want to discuss with you 6 ways that are often overlooked when it comes to marketing your website or affiliate program. Most people are familiar with sponsored ads, which are quite effective, but can eat up your revenues with the ever-increasing costs and competition.

First, is a wonderful and powerful program that I use personally and has made my clients Hundreds of thousands of dollars in extra revenue. It is called Web CEO, although you can purchase the program, it does offer a free download that will give you an idea of what capabilities the program offers as well as limited functionality that can assist you in promoting your website.

Second, is Google Groups, my best advice for you is to become a member of a few groups that may target your industry or interests. The most effective way is to become a trusted member before trying to solicit and spam them with your offering. I encourage you to participate and once every so often ask members to evaluate your offering, but don’t over do it, you want to maintain a friendly rapport with the members.

Third, is to utilize Free ads, yes most free ads are selling products, but if you could offer a free sample or even a free report for them to read, it will increase your recognition as well as authority on the subject. To further boost your ad, you could pay a few dollars to have it featured, which can greatly improve your traffic to your site. My advice is for you to test a few Free advertising sites and see what works.

Fourth, is article submissions, Articles can contain links to your site about your offering and provides a link to your site or product. This works in several ways, not only can someone read your article, but it can be indexed by the search engines, thus boosting your popularity in the search engines. It also increase name recognition, so people feel more comfortable about purchasing from you.

Fifth, is to utilize My Space or Face Book, these can be fun and entertaining. You want people to interact with you, and also customers or potential customers can get an idea about who you are and what you are like. These ways allow you to be creative and in a non-threatening way interact with your customers.

Finally, Affiliate Marketing, it is one of the most powerful ways to get traffic and boost sales. Be sure your profit margins allow you to compensate your affiliates, not to mention give them assistance with banners, text, sample ads, and links they can use to promote your product(s). Although this may cost you to implement, the return is a hundred fold if implemented properly. You can search online for places or groups that promote affiliate marketing.

Keep in mind, that all businesses need to adapt and try new things to build their recognition as well as satisfying their customers needs.
